EASTLAND - State Representative Jim Keffer, a Concealed Handgun License holder and "A" rated NRA legislator, completed a Second Amendment Rights tour in District 60 this month.
On October 8, Rep. Keffer joined the Lake Granbury Chamber at Bond Arms in Granbury, Texas. Bond Arms manufactures over-under, single-action derringers that fire modern calibers such as .38, .45, and .410 calibers. Gordon Bond (pictured below), founder and owner of Bond Arms, personally gave the group a tour of his facility.
The Republican Party of Eastland County and Rep. Keffer sponsored a table at the Friends of the NRA Banquet in Cisco, Texas on October 19. The Friends of the NRA fundraising event helped fund programs across the state such as youth firearm safety and education programs, hunter education, range development and improvement, women’s training seminars, and wildlife conservation efforts. Two District 60 counties, Coleman and Eastland, were awarded grants for youth programs over the last year.
Rep. Keffer finished his Second Amendment Right tour in Breckenridge, Texas at Bold Ideas. Bold Ideas, a Canby, Oregon-based company, opened a new manufacturing facility back in April 2013. Rep. Keffer was joined by members of the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation on a tour of the new facility. Bold ideas manufacturers high-quality AR-15 style Colt Competition rifles.
"I am proud to have two gun manufacturers in District 60. It's clear to me that gun and ammunition manufacturers come to Texas because of our friendly business climate and our strong belief in the Second Amendment. I will continue to pass legislation that encourages manufacturers to move to Texas, and I will always fight to protect a Texan's right to bear arms," said Rep. Keffer.
While many states are pursuing measures to create more restrictions or bans on firearms, Rep. Keffer and fellow Republicans continue to stand up for Second Amendment Rights and encourages gun and ammunition manufacturers to find homes in Texas.
